Foundations of Meditation

A new habit through the lens of grace and compassion.

Are you an all-or-nothing thinker? A self-sabotager?

My guess is that you've started several new habits before, some of which have stuck, and some that haven't. Let's run through some common reasons habits don't stick:

  • You put it off until "tomorrow"
  • You don't make room for it in your schedule
  • You don't have a plan and say things like "oh, I want to start doing X", or "I know I'll feel better when I start doing Y".
  • You feel like it has to happen a certain way or it isn't right and you failed
  • You beat yourself up when you miss a day and then quit

I may be missing a few, but you get the gist right? Many of these might even hit pretty close to home. I know because these are all reasons some of my habits haven't stuck. I'm sharing these mindset blocks with you for a few reasons. First, to show you that you're not alone, and second, because knowing why something isn't working is good information to figure out how to make it actually work

I think these reasons "not to" especially pop up when starting a new practice like meditation, because while you know it will help you, it feels like work. But here's the thing: you're allowed to make things easier for yourself.

That was my intention in creating this program.

As a mental health therapist, I'm well-positioned to help you through common mindset blocks like all-or-nothing thinking and self-sabotage.

I help you create actionable (and realistic) goals and learn to be kind to yourself even when starting a new habit is hard.

WHY MEDITATION?

Meditation is defined as the act of focusing your attention for a duration of time. This is not only an ancient practice, it's also an evidence-based resource that has a multitude of data to support its effectiveness. Benefits like reduced anxiety, lower stress levels, and even better sleep are just a few of the reasons to engage with this practice. Not only that, but mindfulness sets you up to have the space to respond rather than react, which will in turn have a positive impact on your relationships and communication with those around you.

WHAT YOU'LL GET:

  • 14 Daily Meditation Practices (that you can choose to do every day or not)
  • Introduction and Setup Guidance that includes working through mindset blocks and setting realistic and gentle goals
  • Short Alternate practices for when you're feeling busy but still want to practice, because something is better than nothing

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Maybe you've heard about meditation and think it will help, but you don't know how or where to start.

That's where this program comes in. This course is a foundational exploration of the building blocks of meditation. By the end, you'll be able to meditate on your own, with guidance or without.

This is a space where you don't have to figure it out on your own - I've taken out all of the guesswork and will guide you through.

In 14 days of guided, easy-to-understand meditation practice, I walk you through the how, the why, and help you address some common blocks to getting started.
